WOMEN'S DAY

MARCH 8 WOMEN'S DAY

Celebrated every year in Italy and in many other countries, it aims to commemorate the social achievements and discriminations of which the female gender has been and still is

This day was established to remember the social, economic and political achievements of women, but also the discrimination they have been and still are subjected to in the world.

The first National Women's Day was celebrated on February 28, 1909 in the United States

The following year the anniversary was also introduced in Europe with the name of International Women's Day to promote their rights and to support the campaign in favor of universal suffrage.

Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, in 1911, were the first countries of the old continent to celebrate this day.

In Italy, the first International Women's Day was celebrated on March 22, 1922. Only in 1946, on the proposal of Teresa Noce, Rita Montagnana and Teresa Mattei, was the mimosa instead identified as its official symbol.

Furthermore, yellow is the color that represents the transition from death to life, thus becoming a metaphor for women who fought for gender equality.

…SO YES TO THE PARTY BUT YES ALSO TO THE REMEMBRANCE OF ALL THE SOCIAL ACHIEVEMENTS OBTAINED BY WOMEN FOR WOMEN
