Description

Ficus Ginseng: a bonsai that has taken on the quality of a furnishing or design element in recent years. We all know it as one of the most resistant and at the same time intriguing bonsai thanks to its splendid roots.

In addition to the sympathy it inspires with its shapes, the meaning it represents is also interesting: a wish for long life and health, given that the existence of the ficus is truly lasting if cultivated correctly.
Unlike other bonsai, it is usually not worked into the trunk to take on this gnarled and wrinkled appearance because it already has it!

It is therefore a plant that is already adapted by nature to theNeagari bonsai style, one of the most scenographic ever, where the plant is exalted precisely by the conformation of the roots.

the climate of most of our homes reflects the natural habitat where these plants live. And then, an excellent reason to choose a ficus ginseng is the fact that, like all the other varieties of this family, it has the ability to purify the air of substances harmful to our respiratory system.
The Ginseng bonsai rarely flowers when grown indoors but on the other hand, like the Ficus Carica (ie the “common” fig), it sometimes produces small yellowish fruits in late spring or early summer and in September!
Considering then that the care of this plant is very simple, aFicus ginsengit is excellent if you have recently ventured into the world of bonsai.
It is an indoor plant, but if you wish in the summer you can place it outside for some time, in a semi-shaded place. Consider that it lives well even in the fog, which is present in abundance in the rainforests, providing it with the right humidity to survive. But be careful for those who live near the sea! Our advice is to repair it, because the leaves cannot stand the saltiness, nor the too cold climate.
Can we prune it? Of course yes, they are plants that tolerate pruning even in a "drastic" way, because it always favors the production of new leaves. The soil our bonsai needs is also simple to createFicus ginseng(also for a possible repotting), you can mix Akadama and universal soil by adding a little sand.
