Description
Dendrobium nobile is one of the most common orchids in cultivation. It is appreciated for its abundant and long-lasting flowering as well as for the relative ease of cultivation in our climates. It is used as a houseplant, suitable for very bright rooms.
 
Dendrobium nobile is a perennial plant belonging to the Orchidaceae family and brings together innumerable varieties which differ in that their dimensions can vary from 30 centimeters to a few meters in height. This species is native to Asia, Japan, the Himalayas and Australia.
Dendrobium nobile is a species capable of developing pseudobulbs of about 60 centimeters in size from which the glossy leaves typical of orchids will then sprout.
The beauty of the inflorescences can be enjoyed from February to April. They are made up of white petals at the base and mauve at the top of the flower.
 
The hybrids that we easily find on the market, on the other hand, all have more or less the same needs, in particular they want high temperatures and humidity for most of the season, followed by a cool and dry period
The Dendrobium nobile prefers areas in full sun during the autumn and winter seasons, while, during the spring and summer ones, it prefers partial shade. During this same period you can enjoy the beauty of the inflorescences.
 
The Dendrobium nobile needs abundant watering during the summer season, while it is necessary to stop watering during the winter season. If the plant is planted in a greenhouse, it must be kept in a humid environment during its growth, and then watering reduced when the orchid reaches maturity.
As far as the temperature is concerned, the Dendrobium nobile prefers areas where there are high temperatures and must never drop below about 5°C if it is planted in the ground;
